The Vision: Refreshing From the Inside Out

Spring cleaning doesn’t stop at decluttering closets or deep cleaning bedrooms.

For me… it goes deeper than that. Refreshing/renewing starts on the inside, inside of ourselves and inside of our homes. But first, let’s start outside.

I started my garden back up last week and it is flourishing.

The cabbage was really being dramatic. *rolls eyes

I’m so proud! It’s small but it is growing and it is a reflection of me, so I make sure I nourish and love on it daily.

After refreshing my bedroom, (read more about that process here) I immediatly hopped on the garden.

I realized something—I can’t focus on building a garden outside if I’m neglecting what’s already growing inside.

And I’ll be honest… some of my house plants? Yeah… they needed help (look at the first image)

But instead of being embarrassed, I’m choosing to be intentional.

Because this season isn’t about perfection.

It’s about alignment, growth, and care.

Why House Plants Matter During Spring Cleaning

When you think about spring cleaning, you probably think:

  • Clearing clutter
  • Opening windows
  • Letting fresh air in
  • Deep cleaning rooms (baseboards, walls and all)

But adding or refreshing your indoor plants?

That’s a whole different level of reset.

House plants bring:

  • Life into your space
  • Movement and energy
  • A sense of calm and balance

And when paired with neutral home decor—soft tones, minimal clutter, natural textures—they create a space that feels grounded and peaceful and offer that connection that we need to feel more creative and high vibrational.

The Science Behind Plants in Your Living Space

It’s not just about aesthetics—there’s real science behind why plants make your home feel better. (I paid $20 bucks for a plant magazine and learned this stuff, seriously. As always do your own research though.)

1. Air Quality Support

Certain house plants can help filter indoor air by absorbing toxins and releasing oxygen. While they won’t replace ventilation, they contribute to a cleaner, fresher environment.

2. Mental Health & Focus

Studies show that being around greenery can:

  • Reduce stress levels
  • Improve mood
  • Increase focus and productivity

That’s why simply having plants in your space can shift your mindset without you even realizing it.

3. Humidity Balance

Plants release moisture into the air through a process called transpiration, which can help improve indoor humidity—especially helpful during seasonal transitions.

Being Intentional with Your Indoor Garden

This time around, I’m not just throwing plants into pots and hoping for the best.

I’m learning to be more intentional:

  • Choosing the right soil for each plant
  • Layering soil for proper drainage (rocks, soil, nutrients)
  • Understanding that each plant has different needs (this was a huge lesson for me)

Because just like people… every plant grows differently.

And that’s something I’m learning to respect.

There’s something about pairing greenery with a neutral space that just works.

Think:

  • Beige, white, soft browns
  • Natural wood textures
  • Clean, uncluttered surfaces

Now add a plant…

It instantly becomes the focal point without overwhelming the space.

Plants bring:

  • Contrast without chaos
  • Color without loudness
  • Life without clutter

It’s a quiet kind of beauty.

Growth, Mindset & Elevation

Taking care of plants has a way of reflecting your own life.

You start to notice:

  • What needs more attention
  • What needs to be cut back
  • What just needs time

It’s more than decor.

It’s a reminder that:

  • Growth isn’t instant
  • Care is consistent
  • And everything thrives with the right environment

Refreshing my house plants is really about refreshing my mindset.

☀️ Embracing the Season You’re In

The birds are chirping.

The sun is shining brighter.

Spring is here—in full swing.

And I’m choosing to move with it.

I’m grateful for where I am right now.

Grateful for what I have.

And committed to taking care of it.

Because before I expand…

I need to nurture what’s already mine inside and out.

Final Thoughts: Start Where You Are

If your plants are struggling…

If your space feels a little off…

If you’ve been putting it off…

This is your sign.

You don’t need to start over.

You just need to refresh what you already have.

If you’re refreshing your space this spring—inside or outside—
